I can never emphasise the importance of a CT scan of the sinuses enough!

If you have had a look at my pages and blogs about rhinitis and sinusitis, you will know by now that sinusitis can only be distinguished from rhinitis with a CT scan. Your CT will not only show the presence or abscence of sinus infections, but also the extent of the infection. It is therefore essential to get this knowledge in order to reach your destination, which is your eventual treatment.

In my office you will have the opportunity to view the CT with me, enabling you to get some understanding of the extent and / or subtlety of your disease. You will get an understanding of the complex anatomy of the sinuses and their surroundings. We will not only look for obvious infections, but also for subtle obstructions of sinus openings which could explain your specific symptoms and problems.

We will look at the sinuses from different viewpoints with software which gives us a "multiplanar reconstruction" of the sinuses. This will show us different aspects of the sinus anatomy and the surrounding structures, helping us to form a 3D concept of your sinuses. Studying your "map" in such detail will help you to reach your destination with confidence!
